Two pages for every character of HSK Level 1. Your hand does the rest.
The HSK Level 1 syllabus in force from July 2026 asks you to read 246 characters and to write 100 of them. This workbook has every one of the 246, plus the two the Level 1 words cannot do without, and it marks the writing characters so you know where the exam will look hardest.
The left page is the character. A large model, its pinyin, its sound written in Devanagari and in the International Phonetic Alphabet, its meaning in English and Hindi, its radical and stroke count, a short story of where it came from, the stroke order one stroke at a time, and seven rows of practice cells.
The right page is the character at work. The words it makes, and ten sentences, each written four ways (Hanzi, pinyin, Devanagari, IPA) with the meaning in English and Hindi. Read them aloud and the character stays. By the end of the book you will have read 2,480 sentences and 1,313 words.
Thirteen themed units take you from counting to the words of everyday life: people, family, time, places, food, doing, home, describing, the little words that glue a sentence together, learning, out in town, and every day. At the back: the hundred writing characters on one page, an index by pinyin, an index by stroke count, and the complete sound table of the series.
Readers who do not know Devanagari can use the pinyin and IPA lines alone; readers who do get the closest Hindi sound under every word.
